The Toronto Paramedic Association was formed in 1992 to represent the professional interests of Paramedics employed by Toronto Emergency Medical Services (TEMS). During initial stages of development membership consisted largely of Advanced Care Practitioners. Over time, and through stakeholder interaction, the TPA has grown to include membership from all practitioner levels within TEMS. We now enjoy a membership of close to 300 Paramedics.

The Toronto Paramedic Association is a Chapter of the Ontario Paramedic Association (OPA) www.ontarioparamedic.ca The OPA, having 2,800 members, is a chapter of the Paramedic Association of Canada, which has over 14,000 members www.paramedic.ca

Membership and all Director Positions are voluntary in nature. Anyone who has been involved in volunteer opportunities understands the challenge of meeting our employment and family commitments while trying to free up time to work on representing the Association.

The Toronto Paramedic Association is not a labour representative. The labour interests of our members are represented by CUPE Local 416. www.local416paramedics.com
